Specialized Diagnosis, Treatment, Management and support

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession that specialises in the diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions that are due to problems with the joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves of the body, particularly those of the spine.  Chiropractors focus on the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, primarily coordinated by the nervous system.  Treatment may consists of a wide range of techniques designed to improve the function of the nervous system, relieving pain and muscle spasm and improving overall health and wellbeing.
Treatment is tailored to the individual.

Our Techniques:
Dr Malcolm of Chiropractic First employ a wide range of proven techniques which are tailored for each individual case.

Thompson Drop Technique:
Developed by Dr J. Clay Thompson, has evolved into a system of ananalysis and means of adjusting the spinal cord.  The combination produces precise adjustment.
Drop Table: this technique makes use of specialised drop piece mechanisms in the table to assist the adjustment.  Individual cushions or 'drop pieces' located along the table support each area of the spine until the thrust is given.  Each drop piece then gently gives way, reducing the pressure needed to move a specific spinal segment.

NAET Allergy Elimination Technique

NAET: "Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique". This unique method can help eliminate allergy symptoms and alleviate allergies.  Experience has taught us that many symptoms and illnesses such as headaches, back pain, digestive problems, respiratory problems and so on, are often triggered by allergies.

Additional adjunctive therapies:-

TBM: Total Body Modification:

TBM is a technique that is used to find the organ meridian or area of the body that is stressed, determine why it is stressed and correct the problem by restoring balance to the nervous system.
Tbm uses tried and tested reflex points and muscle testing.

NET: Neuro Emotional Technique

The Neuro Emotional Technique is a methodology used to normalize unresolved physical and / or behavioural patterns in the body.  NET practitioners are trained to assist the body's healing process by identifying and balancing unresolved emotional influences - it's a mind body approach.
Using a series of questions and assisted by specific muscle tests the practitioner can find the problem.  The practitioner will then stimulate specific points on the spine.

KST: Koren Specific Technique

KST has one of the best techniques to help reverse this effect.  KST is a great choice for those patients who do not like manual adjustment.

Trigger Point:
The primary purpose of trigger point therapy is to reduce the pain that results from hypersensitive muscles. Trigger points are identified by gently pressing on the surface of the skin, sensing the texture of the underlying muscle.

A trigger point is like a knot the size of a split pea, buried deep in the muscle tissue creating an area of irritation and pain. It is made up of lactic acid, a normal by-product of muscular activity, which sometimes gets trapped in the muscle as a result of physical, chemical or emotional stress.

Acute vs Supportive/Maintenance Care

Once the more acute symptoms have resolved and/or maximum correction and improvement has been achieved, many patients choose to continue Chiropractic Care periodically to maintain or support the improvements made.  Many of the causes of spinal problems cannot be avoided in our modern stressful lives and this type of care can be thought of as similar to getting your teeth checked by a dentist or getting your car regularly serviced.  Keep your chiropractor as part of your health team.

Your Chiropractor will discuss with you how often these check-ups might be appropriate in your particular case.
How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.

We specialize in treating injuries caused by automobile accidents, sports injuries, and workplace injuries. We can help reverse the effects of injuries caused by repetitive motion, poor posture, and poor lifting habits.
